Where does he find the time? Still in the midst of making Season 6 of his hit show The Chosen, Dallas Jenkins is now putting his know-how behind a series about Jacob's favorite son. The program, called Joseph of Egypt, is currently filming its eight-episode first season in New Mexico.

To be fair, the 50-year-old husband and father of four will not be nearly as hands-on for this one, though, neither writing nor directing as he does on The Chosen. Instead, Craig Wright - who previously worked on the hit series Lost - will fill the roles of showrunner and writer for this telling of the life of Joseph, which is found in the Old Testament book of Genesis.

A towering Biblical figure, and the 11th of Jacob's 12 sons, he was sold into slavery in Egypt by his jealous older brothers. There he endured more betrayal and lengthy imprisonment before God elevated him to a position of leadership under Pharoah. That enabled him ultimately to save his entire family, including those treacherous brothers.

Actor Adam Hashmi, who appeared in a 2020 episode of Bridgerton, will play the part of Joseph in this show, which is a joint production between Amazon MGM Studios and Jenkins' 5&2 Studios. The series is part of the deal that the two outfits signed in February of this year, a deal that also gave exclusive rights to the streaming giant for future episodes of The Chosen.

Joseph of Egypt is just the latest Biblical drama from Prime Video. In addition to acquiring The Chosen, it is also a co-producer of House of David, a show about ancient Israel's greatest monarch. No word yet on when this new series will release, but Christian Film Blog will bring you that information when it is announced.
