The outspoken Christian and former reality television star had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Phil Robertson, who rose to fame on A&E's Duck Dynasty, has died at the age of 79. Various members of the Robertson clan took to social media today to announce his death, and to underline the fact that the patriarch of the Louisiana family has gone to glory.
So, while they are naturally grieving, they are also taking great comfort in that reality, with his son Willie Robertson and wife Korie thanking people via Instagram for their "love and prayers," adding that they "celebrate" that Phil "is now with the Lord." Another son, Jase Robertson, put out a post on X, capturing the mixed emotions the family is experiencing.
"He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!"
Phil Robertson, a hunter and outdoorsman, first came to national attention thanks to the aforementioned reality show, which ran from 2012-2017. It profiled his family and the successful duck call business that he founded (and it will be rebooted this summer, as we previously reported). Also an author, and later co-host of a popular podcast with sons Jase and Al, he never missed an opportunity to proclaim the Gospel message and point people to Christ, which we wrote about over the years here, here, and here.
The Robertson Family is planning to hold a private funeral service for him and then "a public celebration of his life," according to the statement from Willie and Korie. The details of that latter event will be released at a future date.
