Show Me the Father is the first of two movies coming out this fall from Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick, and it marks their initial foray into the world of documentary production. Fatherhood is obviously an important subject for the Georgia brothers because they have previously focused heavily on the issue in their feature films, including Fireproof, Facing the Giants and Courageous, a remastered and updated version of which - Courageous Legacy - is the other film they're releasing later this year.

The former pastors, who co-wrote and executive produced this documentary, are themselves each the father of six children and state that they have a very strong relationship with there own father, Larry Kendrick. The bond is so strong, in fact, that the elder Kendrick has served as a model for characters in all of their movies, as Stephen points out in the trailer.

"There's no way that we could've told the stories we've told in the manner we did without our father's influence."

The Kendrick Brothers share more about that relationship in this film, and Stephen will discuss the adoption of his daughter as well, relating the role of earthly fathers to the fatherhood of God. Other participants in Show Me the Father include famous Dallas-based pastor Tony Evans, former NFL running back Eddie George and Focus on the Family president Jim Daly, to name just a few. The documentary releases in theaters nationwide on September 10th and you can watch the new trailer below to get a better feel for it.
