The channel's top star is eager to get back into the genre she knows so well.
It has been more than two and a half years since Candace Cameron Bure appeared in a so-called cozy mystery. That was back in early 2022 as Aurora Teagarden in the eponymous franchise at Hallmark, her previous network home. She and her new channel - Great American Family - will roll out a sleuthing heroine of their own this weekend, Ainsley McGregor, with the Christian actress playing the lead part.
Bure's character - based on a protagonist by the same name from a popular book series - is a former criminologist who has left her job in Chicago and rebased to her hometown in Texas "to open Bless Your Arts, a market for artisans to sell crafts," as the synopsis puts it. In this first installment of the new franchise, her detective skills are quickly put to use, however, after a murder at a local winery leads to a friend's arrest.
Bure, a 48-year-old wife and mother of three adult children, stated earlier this year that there is nothing "more exciting" than for her to be back in the mystery genre: she made nearly 20 of the aforementioned Aurora Teagarden films for Hallmark. The outspoken Believer is also one of the executive producers of this picture, with her Candy Rock Entertainment company having helped make it.
Ainsely McGregor Mysteries: A Case for the Winemaker premieres on Great American Family channel this Saturday, October 5th, at 8:00 PM EDT/7:00 PM CDT, and the trailer below will give you a better sense of what you can expect.
