The use of artificial intelligence for writing scripts is a hot-button issue in the entertainment industry, with both the Screen Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA - which represents actors - striking last year in part because of it. You can count Candace Cameron Bure among those squarely against it.

In fact, she finds A.I. "a little frightening" when it comes to possibly using it in the moviemaking business. In an interview with Fox News Digital, the headline actress at Great American Family says it will not be a part of content creation on the channel, which is the fastest growing in cable television.

"We are using wonderful writers to write our movies, and I have no intention of using or touching A.I. when it comes to our filmmaking and writing scripts."

The 47-year-old wife and mother of three adult children joined Great American Family in 2022 as not only its top on-screen talent, but also as its Chief Content Officer - a position that gives her the influence to keep A.I. at bay. In the industry more generally, though, it will be interesting to see how things play out, particularly in the low-budget movie space, where limited resources may well make non-human screenwriting too tempting for filmmakers to pass up.

In terms of watching Bure do what she is best-known for - her acting - she has a feature film coming out this spring. It is called Unsung Hero and it is the true coming-to-America story of Christian musicians Joel and Luke Smallbone with the rest of their family. The picture is scheduled to release in theaters on April 26th and the trailer below will give you a feel for what to expect.
