This makes the fifth consecutive weekend the faith-based film has finished in the Top-10 since it released in early July.
As fans continue to flock to see Sound of Freedom, the movie brought in more than $7.5 million from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website. That was good enough for sixth place overall at the weekend box office and it takes the picture's total haul to a colossal $164 million through 34 days in theaters.
Furthermore, it now ranks second all-time in the Christian genre in domestic ticket revenue behind only The Passion of the Christ, which also starred this film's lead actor, Jim Caviezel. In so doing, Sound of Freedom - which tells the true story of an American government official who quit his job to devote himself full-time to the fight against child sex trafficking - became only the second faith-based movie to have broken the $100-million threshold...The Passion of the Christ, of course, being the first.
