That comes as the faith-based feature about the fight against child sex trafficking delivers another solid performance at the weekend box office.
Sound of Freedom claimed fourth place overall in ticket revenue from Friday through Sunday, bringing in $12.8 million according to The Numbers website. That means it has finished in the Top-5 each of the four weekends it has been in release.
The film, which stars Jim Caviezel and Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino, is now within striking distance of $150 million total, needing less than $1 million more to get there. That is quite the milestone, having ever been reached by only one other film in the faith-based genre: The Passion of the Christ. That picture also featured Caviezel in the lead role and brought in a whopping $370 million domestically back in 2004.
Sound of Freedom is never going to reach those dizzying revenue heights, but it will certainly get to $150 million early this week and should go significantly higher; Christian Film Blog would not be surprised to see it hit $175 million, provided it stays in a significant number of theaters through the end of next month.
