The pro-life Christian film achieves something not many others in the faith-based genre have.

Unplanned earned an estimated $24,000 at the weekend box office, according to The Numbers. That brings its total revenue to $18 million, putting it in rarefied company, as only 22 other Christian films have managed to cross that threshhold on a list kept by Box Office Mojo, which has curiously not included this obviously Christian movie in that genre.

At any rate, this is quite an achievement for filmmakers Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon, the team behind Unplanned, particularly since the film and its right-to-life message faced wave after wave of attempted suppression from pro-abortion forces, as we detailed in several articles. Now in its seventh week in release, the box office revenue is likely to turn into just a trickle, because the picture's theater count is down to just 55 and dropping.

Unplanned is based on a memoir by the same name from Abby Johnson, a former abortion clinic director who became a prominent pro-life advocate. It stars Christian actresses Ashley Bratcher - as Johnson - and Robia Scott.
