Having already set the ticket-sales record for distributor Fathom Events and enjoyed two extensions of its theatrical run, Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers has gone from success to success. Now, for the second weekend in a row, it claimed a spot in the Top-10 at the U.S. box office, bringing in $1.24 million from Friday through Sunday, according The Numbers website, and finishing in eighth position.

That puts this Yuletide production from The Chosen - the hit streaming series about the life of Christ - in eighth place for the weekend, down from fourth place in its debut weekend. It also pushes the total box office return to almost $13.4 million, which is a tremendous showing for this independent production.

Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers features a new episode of the show that tells the Nativity story through the eyes of Mary and Joseph and has a separate concert-like portion in which 13 top Christian musical acts perform Christmas songs. While the domestic theatrical run has been extended through December 16th, show creator/director Dallas Jenkins and his partners will premiere it in a global livestream tonight (Sunday, December 12th at 8:00 PM EST (GMT -5) via the program's app (Google Play / App Store) and YouTube channel, and it will be available for free in keeping with the established policy for distributing the series itself.
