Tamera Mowry-Housley is Turning Her Talents to Music

The actress and talk show host will join the worship team at her church and hopes to put out a Christian album.

She made the announcement recently on her talk show, The Real, during a segment about vision boards for the New Year. Mowry-Housley, who first rose to fame back in the 1990s on the sitcom Sister Sister - where she starred with her twin sister Tia Mowry - says there is a rich family tradition of singing in church.

"My cousin is a worship leader, my mom was a worship leader. It actually runs in my family so I’m going to do that. I would love to do that for my church."

The decision comes as Mowry-Housley continues to grieve over a personal tragedy. Her 18 year old niece, Alaina Housley, was one of the victims of a mass shooting last month at a bar and grill in Thousand Oaks, CA. But Mowry-Housley says the time is right to take this step.

"I'm ready now. I think it's important to be ready spiritually here (points to her heart) so that you can put those vibes out there."

No word yet on when we can expect the album, but joining the church worship team sounds like it will happen soon. You can take a look her announcement in this clip from The Real. Mowry-Housely starts at approximately 3:30, and be forewarned, there is a bit of coarse language at the very beginning of this segment from one of the other hosts.
