Stark New Look for Chip Gaines of "Fixer Upper" Fame

Chip Gaines has undergone a radical makeover, as it were, getting his shoulder-length locks buzzed off. It wasn't merely a publicity stunt, though, because the 46-year-old star of Fixer Upper and its new iteration, Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, is donating the hair to an organization called Children with Hair Loss so it can be turned into a wig for a cancer patient.

On his way to the barber shop yesterday, he said "I can't believe I'm gonna go bald." His wife and fellow TV star and co-founder of Magnolia Network, Joanna Gaines, went along and engaged in some playful banter with him in a video of the proceedings, saying, "Chip you've got great hair," to which he replies, "You've always said it looks disgusting." That set Joanna up for the punchline: "I've never seen it this clean."

In that same video clip, Chip Gaines brings a boy named Bailey as well. They first met in 2017 when the youngster was getting cancer treatment at St. Jude's Hospital. As part of this hair-cut event, the Gaineses - who are committed Christians - also helped raise $500,000 in donations for the hospital, kicking in some $75,000 themselves and sending another $50,000 to Children with Hair Loss. How uplifting to see celebrities using their fame to bless others.

The footage is amusing and worth watching. It runs just under one minute and you can check it out via this link to Chip Gaines' Instagram page.
