Dallas Jenkins and the cast and crew of The Chosen will be back on set in April to begin filming. The show creator and director hosted a social media livestream last night to update fans on what is to come, saying that "Season 5 is Holy Week," which of course is the period right before Christ was killed on the cross.

The 48-year-old husband and father of four, who is also a committed Christian, said that production will last 69 days, starting with six weeks in Utah and finishing at the program's permanent set south of Dallas, Texas. Among the first things to be filmed will be scenes at the temple in Jerusalem, which will feature up to 600 extras. That will be shot at a first century mockup of the Jewish capital city, a facility the program has used in the past.

The Chosen, which stars American actor Jonathan Roumie in the role of Jesus, will ultimately run for seven seasons and the sixth will focus on the crucifixion. This next season will track the week proceeding that, starting with the Savior's Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. Jenkins says he and his team hope to help viewers to see things as Jesus did.

"We really focus on the Last Supper. We focus on how Jesus is thinking and feeling as he approaches this. What's it like for Jesus to be facing what He knows He's facing?"

The director asked for prayer for "wisdom and clarity," saying that he is currently in the midst of "the most overwhelming period of time" ever in his life, with the production of Season 5 looming, the streaming release of Season 4 still tied up in legal issues, and the post-production of a Christmas feature film he directed out there as well.

As to Season 4, that will be re-released in theaters next Thursday, March 28th, starting with episodes one through three, to be followed by episodes four through six on Good Friday, March 29th, and concluding with the finale - episodes seven and eight - on Saturday, March 30th.
