"Palau: The Movie" Can Now be Yours

The biopic about the famous evangelist goes on sale next month.

Luis Palau studies a map of Colombia in a scene from the movie. Image: "Palau: The Movie"/Instagram.

Palau: The Movie tracks the life of the man from humble beginnings in his native Argentina through his move to the US as a seminary student and onto a global ministry that now spans half a century and has touched the lives of tens of millions. After a brief theatrical release back in April, it will be available for purchase one week from today in digital format.

In the film, the adult Luis Palau is played by fellow Argentine Gaston Pauls who turns in a convincing performance and is particularly powerful in his portrayal of Palau's years in strife-torn 1960s Colombia where he served as a missionary. There are good performances from American actor Scott Reeves in the role of Ray Stedman, Palau's mentor, and Australian actress Alexandra Bard as Pat Palau, Luis' wife.

The movie's American theatrical run was short - just two days - and it played in only 135 theaters, though it also ran in South America and Spain. Luis Palau himself, who briefly appears in the film, has said it was "odd" and "unnerving" to have someone make a movie about his life, but feels God has used the film to challenge audiences to live for Christ as he himself has done.

Now 84 years old, Palau learned he had cancer in December, 2017, on the eve of the movie's production and recognizes he "may not have much longer on this earth," so he is grateful to the Lord that the timing has worked out the way it has.

"Frankly, after fighting stage IV lung cancer for the past 18 months, I'm surprised I've stuck around long enough to see this film in its completed form. It's been a blessing. And I pray the Lord continues to use it to bless many more people."

Praise God for our brother Luis Palau and his courage and unwavering faithfulness in sharing the love of Christ with so many for so long.

If you would like to purchase a copy of the movie, digital sales begin August 6th on Amazon and the DVD will be available on September 10th. In the meantime, you can check out our review via this link.
