Pace Slows for "Unplanned"

Updated: May 6, 2019

The pro-life Christian film sees significant drops in both its theater count and revenue.

Unplanned earned $63,500 at the box office over the weekend, according to data from The Numbers, down from $137,000 for the previous Friday through Sunday period. The primary driver of that decline was its theater count, which fell 46% and now sits at 134.

The film, which stars Christian actresses Ashley Bratcher and Robia Scott, is based on a memoir by Abby Johnson, a former abortion clinic director who became a right-to-life advocate. It was made by the writer/director team of Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman, the men behind the God's Not Dead franchise.

Unplanned has had a good run heretofore. With a production budget of $6 million, the picture has brought in almost $18 million in revenue since it debuted at the end of March. That ranks it in the Top-25 money-makers all-time in the Christian genre.
