"Overcomer" Claims Spot in Top-15
Another good weekend at the box office for the Christian film from the Kendrick Brothers.
Overcomer brought in $900,000 from Friday through Sunday, according to preliminary revenue figures from The Numbers. That puts it in 13th place overall for the weekend, its sixth in release, and pushes its total domestic haul above $31 million. It needs only about $300,000 more to move into 19th place in all-time domestic box office earnings in the Christian genre, according to Box Office Mojo.
The sixth feature film from Stephen Kendrick and Alex Kendrick - the number one team in the faith-based movie business - Overcomer focuses on the importance of finding our indentity in Christ. Co-written by the brothers, produced by Stephen and directed by Alex, who also plays the lead role, the picture features a strong cast of Christian actors, including Cameron Arnett, Shari Rigby, Priscilla Shirer and Aryn Wright-Thompson. The soundtrack also has some heavy-hitters from the Christian music scene, including Mandisa and Lauren Daigle with her number one hit, You Say.
