This pro-life Christian film has a big night at the box office in its debut.
The experts were predicting an opening weekend haul of $3 to $4 million for the film. Looks like they're going to have to go back to the drawing board on those estimates, though, because Unplanned brought in a whopping $2.96 million on Friday night, according to preliminary numbers from Box Office Mojo.
That number's good for fourth place overall, which is incredible considering this movie is playing in only 1,059 theaters and the next lowest in the top seven is close to 3,000 theaters. I would look for a serious jump in Unplanned's theater count next weekend.
Oh, and about those weekend estimates. The fine folks at Box Office Mojo are now guessing Unplanned will bring in closer to $7 million. We should have the numbers Sunday night, so stick with us for an update.
