Fans are responding to the new movie from Christian singer and actor Alan Powell, who both co-wrote and produced A Week Away, though he does not appear on screen. The cast of this church-camp flick is led by Bailee Madison and Kevin Quinn, the latter of whom plays a troubled teen in a fish-out-of-water story.

Those two stars, who have millions of social media followers between them, are delivering their audience: after the movie's day-one premiere on Netflix Friday, it has already risen to number seven in the platform's top 10 films in the United States. And there are no doubt many, many lovers of contemporary Christian music among viewers, because the film features songs from the likes of For King & Country, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman; all of the tunes are performed by the cast, not the original artists.

Powell, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kali Baily, posted the image above on his Instagram page, giving a nod to fans by saying, "So glad you guys are liking it!" Madison noted in a social media post that she is reading comments from viewers of the film and that her "smile hasn't stopped!!" Quinn got in on the act as well, expressing his gratitude to the audience and sharing a behind-the-scenes clip of his song-and-dance number from a beach scene, which you can watch here.
