The country music star will perform songs from her inaugural gospel album in a show this Friday on the Christian TV network.
One of Country music's leading lights, Carrie Underwood is also a committed Christian who earlier this year put out My Savior, which is her eighth studio album and first gospel album. Featuring classics like The Old Rugged Cross, I Surrender All and Amazing Grace, it went to number one on two separate Billboard charts: Top Christian Albums and Country Albums.
The 38-year-old mother of two has done a bit of acting as well, including playing a supporting role in the 2011 hit faith-based movie Soul Surfer, the biopic about Christian athlete Bethany Hamilton. But music is Underwood's real gift - she's a seven-time Grammy-Award-winner - and she staged a benefit virtual concert on Easter Sunday, singing songs from this album at Nashville's famous Ryman Auditorium...without an audience because of the coronavirus. The show was transmitted live on social media to 2.5 million fans and raised more than $100,000 for the charity Save The Children.
It would seem that this TBN program will be a rebroadcast of that event. My Savior: Live from the Ryman will play basically all night this Friday, August 6th, starting at 8:00 PM EDT, with retransmissions at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00. There are some other artists taking part, too, including CeCe Winans who joins Underwood in a duet of Great is Thy Faithfulness.
