The latest film from the Kendrick Brothers is closing in on $30 million in worldwide revenue.
The Forge ended its sixth weekend in North American theaters with a 15th place finish in ticket sales, bringing in more than $730,000 from Friday through Sunday, according to figures from The Numbers website, meaning it has never finished outside of the Top-15. That pushes the faith-based picture's domestic revenue to nearly $27.6 million through 38 days in release.
When you add in international revenue, the total jumps by more than $1.5 million, up to $29.1 million. That overseas number is sure to increase significantly since the film just opened in Brazil, a country that has generated a good box office for previous pictures from filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick: Overcomer earned $2.2 million there in 2019 and War Room delivered $2 million in 2015.
This current film, which features a strong Christian cast - Cameron Arnett, Karen Abercrombie, and Priscilla Shirer - and focuses on the issue of discipleship, is sure to play for at least a couple of weeks more in the United States. So, while its theater count will likely start dropping substantially from this coming weekend on (it now stands at 730 venues), we feel confident that it will ultimately push toward $29 million in domestic revenue, which is a good return on its estimated $5 million production budget.
