That Christian musical brings home the trophy in the inspirational film category at the group's yearly awards show.
The 52nd GMA Dove Awards are, not surprisingly, focused on song, with the only non-music category being Inspirational Film of the Year. This time around, though, music factored heavily in even that category since the winner - A Week Away - is a musical.
The Netflix-distributed picture is set in a Christian summer camp and features Christian actor Kevin Quinn playing opposite Bailee Madison in a fish-out-of-water story. The film tells a tale of young love between their characters and features remakes of well-known contemporary Christian songs from artists like Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant and Steven Curtis Chapman, the latter two of whom also have cameos in the faith-based movie.
A Week Away was a big hit with audiences around the world when it released earlier this year, ranking in Netflix's Top-10 in multi countries, which Christian Film Blog reported at the time.
