The Christian film also crosses a significant box office threshold over the weekend.

Breakthrough earned an estimated $148,000 from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers, putting it in 21st place overall. Now in its seventh week in release, this film from Christian producer DeVon Franklin is showing in just 251 theaters, down from a high of 2,900-plus.

It has proved a strong performer, though, bringing in $40.3 million in domestic revenue and another $9.7 million overseas thus far, meaning it has crossed over the $50 million barrier. That comes with a production budget of $14 million and it is likely to run for several more weeks to come.

Breakthrough tells the true story of a Missouri boy who drowned in an icy lake and was restored to life through the power of prayer. It stars Chrissy Metz, Topher Grace, Josh Lucas, Marcel Ruiz and Dennis Haysbert.
