The Christian film enjoys another strong performance at the weekend box office.

Overcomer generated $2.72 million and claimed 7th place overall from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers. The movie has now pulled in almost $29 million total, as it begins its fourth week in release, which means it needs about $1.1 million more to move into 20th place on the all-time list in the Christian genre; it almost assuredly will earn that this week.

This is the sixth feature film from the brother team of Stephen Kendrick and Alex Kendrick, the number one filmmakers in the faith-based arena. It focuses on the importance of finding our indentity in Christ and has a strong cast of Christian actors, including Alex himself, Cameron Arnett, Shari Rigby, Priscilla Shirer and, in her silver screen debut, Aryn Wright-Thompson. The soundtrack is also a good one, with songs from popular Christian singers Lauren Daigle and Mandisa, among others.
