Josiah Duggar and his wife Lauren, members of the TLC reality show Counting On, suffered a traumatic loss recently with the miscarriage of their first child. Several months later, and after careful consideration, the couple decided to talk about it publicly in the new season of the program.

In an interview with Fox News, Josiah says doing so "helps with the healing." Lauren adds that though she was hesitant to talk about it openly, she now feels that sharing their painful experience may assist others.

"You know a lot of people go through this and a lot of people face it in silence. And I just wanted to bring hope to a lot of people that go through this — that they’re not alone."

Josiah Duggar, who is 22 years old, is one of 19 siblings of the Duggar clan that starred on the earlier TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting. He and 19 year old Lauren were married last summer. Both are strong believers and she says that has been crucial in getting through the loss of their child.

"I honestly couldn’t have done it without family and our faith. I mean, to know that our baby is in the arms of Jesus is the biggest comfort to me."

You can follow Josiah and Lauren Duggar - as well as many of their family members - on TLC's Counting On, which airs on the channel Monday nights at 9 ET/8 CT.
