For those of you who are fans of so-called Christmas in July, this is something you will no doubt appreciate: the trailer is now out for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Based on a popular book by the same name, the picture stars Judy Greer and comedian Pete Holmes and tells the story of a small-town church play taken over by "six of the worst youngsters," as the synopsis puts it.

This faith-based comedy is a passion project for director Dallas Jenkins - best known for his streaming show The Chosen - who in a social media post calls it "the movie (he's) been wanting to make for over 15 years." The Christian filmmaker has also brought some friends into the cast, including Elizabeth Tabish, Vanessa Benavente and Kirk Woller, who play Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary, and Gaius, respectively, on The Chosen.

Executive produced by the brother duo of Andrew and Jon Erwin, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is the latest picture from their Kingdom Story Company - the top studio in the Christian genre - and their partners at Lionsgate. The movie will get an early jump on the Yuletide competition, releasing in theaters nationwide on November 8th, a full three weeks before Thanksgiving. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below to get a better sense of what to expect.
