It features several of the defining moments from the final days before the Crucifixion of Christ.
Set during Holy Week, Season 5 of The Chosen is the lead up to the end of Jesus' earthly ministry and includes events like HIs Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem for the Passover, the Last Supper and the moment when he forcefully drove sellers out of the temple. The feel of the clip - which runs a bit over one minute and can be viewed below - and its accompanying music reflect the somber nature of this time in the life of Christ.
In fact, the creator/director of this hit streaming series, Dallas Jenkins, acknowledges in a recent social media post that "Season 5 is going to be sad at times." The image in that post features lead actor Jonathan Roumie standing in the courts of the temple, whip in hand, and Jenkins' missive adds that in addition to the sorrowful tenor of the eight episodes to come, there will also be what he colorfully calls "some major kick-butt moments." It will not include the Crucifixion, an event that is to play out in Season 6.
This next season of the show, which will eventually run seven seasons, is due out in April of 2025, as we previously reported, and will release first in movie theaters, before coming to the program's streaming platforms for free viewing. The details of the roll out, including exact dates, are not yet clear, but Christian Film Blog will bring them to you when we get them.
