The animated feature about the life of Christ lands in the Top-10 for the third consecutive weekend.

The King of Kings delivered $4.2 million in ticket sales from Friday through Sunday, according to figures from The Numbers website, putting it in sixth place overall for the weekend. That is, however, more than a 75% drop in revenue and three spots lower when compared to a week earlier.

The film, voiced by big-name actors like Kenneth Branagh, Peirce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Ben Kingsley, and Forest Whitaker focuses on the earthly life and ministry of Jesus as told by famed English author Charles Dickens in a bedtime story to his young son. It has delivered an outstanding performance thus far, generating a North-American gross of $54.7 million at the box office through just 17 days in release.

That puts it right behind the 2018 hit I Can Only Image, which had brought in a bit more than $55 million at the same point and ultimately went onto deliver total domestic revenue of $83.4 million. That figure also put the movie in the all-time Top-5 in ticket sales among faith-based films. We suspect The King of Kings will fall short of reaching those heights, but that it is going to be a major success is already beyond doubt.
