The faith-based movie is now showing in fewer than 100 theaters in North America following its third weekend in release.
After finishing in the Top-15 each of its first two weekends in theaters, The Firing Squad took a tumble at the box office from Friday through Sunday, landing in 29th place overall. The film, which is based on a true story, brought in some $33,000, according to The Numbers website. That is down 86% from the previous weekend and closely tracks the number of venues showing the movie, which dropped from 440 to just 83 over the same period.
The movie, from director Tim Chey and starring Kevin Sorbo and Cuba Gooding Jr. - all three of whom are Believers, tells the story of Christians sentenced to death in Indonesia. It released in theaters on August 2nd and has so far generated $1.7 million in total ticket sales.
