"Someone Like You" Gets an Extension in Theaters

A strong box-office performance earns the film from author Karen Kingsbury an extra week on the big screen.

The opening weekend for Someone Like You was good enough to convince distributor Fathom Events to extend the theatrical release for the picture, meaning it will be available at the local multiplex for 17 days instead of ten, as originally planned. The movie brought in almost $3 million at the box office from Friday through Sunday, as we previously reported, putting it in seventh place overall.

The first film from Karen Kingsbury and her eponymous studio, the picture is based on one of her Christian romance novels by the same name. In a social media post today announcing the extension, she thanked fans for their "love and help" and glorified the Lord for making it happen.

"God has given us the miracle we prayed for!!! @someonelikeyoumovie will be in most theaters another week … so please tell everyone … family, friends, small groups, and your church … take someone and see it today, tomorrow, and this weekend!! We will stay in theaters as long as you’re coming to see it!!!"

Someone Like You will now be available on the silver screen through April 18th. You can find a theater in your area and purchase tickets via this link to the website of Fathom Events.
