The true story about a town coming together to help a vulnerable little girl is the latest Christian film from the Erwin Brothers.

Ordinary Angels landed in third place overall at the box office from Friday through Sunday, bringing in $6.5 million, according to early estimates from The Numbers website. The film benefited from a particularly large distribution footprint for a faith-based production, debuting in more than 3,000 theaters; high-profile lead actors also helped, with Christian Alan Ritchson and Oscar-winner Hilary Swank in the headline roles.

From the brother duo of Andrew and Jon Erwin, who co-produced the picture through their Kingdom Story Company studio, Ordinary Angels tells the story of a Kentucky community pulling together during a blizzard to help a child in dire need of a liver transplant. The ticket revenue is not the only indicator that the film resonated with audiences either, because as we previously reported, it also got a rare top rating from moviegoers surveyed on opening night by the market research company CinemaScore.
