Oh, How We'll Miss Kathie Lee Gifford on Today

The Christian host speaks out about the Holy Spirit as she closes in on the end of her run on morning TV.

Kathie Lee Gifford has been a fixture on the fourth hour of NBC's Today show for 11 years now. That won't last much longer, though, as she plans to leave the show after a final broadcast on April 5th.

But she is making the most of her last days there. An outspoken believer, she has long made a point of sharing with viewers about her faith. She did so again this week in a segment about joy with co-anchor and friend Hoda Kotb.

In the exchange, which you can check out via this link, the 65 year old Gifford says her "joy is non-negotiable" and it "is internal...where the soul lives." Nothing unusual there. Those are things any unbeliever could say in conversation. Then came this gem.

"There's a little inner knowing we have. Some people call it a conscience...Some people call it your best angel, or different things. For me, it's the Holy Spirit."

Three cheers for speaking truth! Can that be topped? Kathie Lee is something else, so if anybody could top it, she may be the one. Here's what she said next.

"It's the Lord, the living God - the eternal God in you - who guides us if we'll listen. If we'll only listen."

Well now, we at Christian Film Blog are listening and all we can say is: Amen. We will miss you, Kathie Lee, and the Today show will not be better for your departure.
