The co-creator of "VeggieTales" authored a children's story featured in this faith-based Christmas movie and will discuss its message of inner beauty tonight on TBN.
Mike Nawrocki is a very busy man. Not only is he half of the duo behind the Christian animated franchise VeggieTales, but he teaches in the film and animation department at Libscomb University, is developing a new animated series and also wrote a book that was used as part of the storyline in The Farmer and the Belle: Saving Santaland, which came out last Christmas.
That children's book, Beautiful Mable, tells a story of kindness and inner beauty, using a chicken that doesn't fit in as the vehicle for the message. Interestingly, while Nawrocki wrote it, he did not illustrate it: that was done by a Christian artist named Sara Jo Floyd.
Nawrocki and Jenn Gotzon, who stars in the movie, will be on Eric Metaxas' show tonight on the Trinity Broadcasting Network to discuss the book and what gave rise to it. In a promo for the broadcast, Gotzon says the story "inspires your heart and makes you laugh," while Nawrocki feels it sends a very important message to children that their "beauty is not on the outside," because "God sees the heart," which is something even we adult Believers must ever be mindful of.
You can catch their full interview with Eric Metaxas this evening at 6:00 PM EDT/5:00 CDT on TBN. The book is available for purchase at the movie's website via this link, and, though it's a bit out of season, if you're up for a faith-based Christmas movie, you can rent or purchase The Farmer and the Belle: Saving Santaland at Amazon.
