The Christian entertainer and producer of "The Way" says she is on the earth "to share the Good News."
Filmmaker, actress, songwriter and singer Kathie Lee Gifford is among the most outspoken Believers in the entertainment industry and we here at Christian Film Blog are unapologetically big fans. That is in large measure because, in addition to her talent, the 69-year-old not only shares her faith boldly, but she does so with a clear love and respect for her interlocutors.
In an interview with CBN's Faithwire, she makes clear the reason for said boldness, stating directly that she is "on this earth to share the Good News that God loves you, whoever you are, and has a plan for your life." The former co-host of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee and the Today show adds that she does not "want to ram Him down anyone's throat," striving instead to respectfully share the Lord's love.
"I can't say I'm a follower of Jesus if I don't try to love like Jesus loved. And I fail at it, but that's my intention every day of my life: 'Jesus, let me see people the way you see them. Let me hear their words the way you will, let me have compassion for them.'"
Gifford, who became a Christian as a girl after watching a Billy Graham outreach film called The Restless Ones, is grateful she can share her faith with others: "I praise God for the privilege of it." And she endeavors to reach people both in personal relationships and through her work, including her musical film The Way, which released earlier this year and is now streaming on Pure Flix.
