The faith-based film holds onto a spot in the Top-10 at the box office.
In its second weekend in release, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot brought in $1.3 million, according to Box Office Mojo. That is down more than 50% from its debut a week earlier, but it still puts the picture in ninth place overall from Friday through Sunday, two spots lower than the previous weekend.
Based on a true story, the film stars Demetrius Grosse and Nika King as a pastor and his wife who sparked a movement in their rural East Texas church to adopt children out of foster care; eventually, nearly 80 youngsters were brought permanently into families of church congregants.
The movie, executive produced by British actress - and outspoken Christian - Letitia Wright, has now generated more than $9.7 million in total ticket revenue through 11 days in release.
