Updated: Apr 15

A major drop in theaters showing the movie from Christian novelist Karen Kingsbury leads to a significant fall in revenue from its opening weekend.

Someone Like You earned $830,000 at the box office from Friday through Sunday, according to The Numbers website, meaning its second weekend in theaters came in more than 70% lower than its first. The picture - now playing in 921 venues - still managed to claim 11th place overall, which is down from seventh position last weekend when it was available in more than 1,800 theaters.

Based on a book by the same name, this is the inaugural feature film from Karen Kingsbury's eponymous production company. The picture, which was shot in Nashville, Tennessee, stars Sarah Fisher and Jake Allyn and tells a story of redemptive love involving a young man who loses his best friend, only to discover and fall in love with her previously unknown identical twin sister.

Someone Like You has thus far generated $4.83 million through ten days in release, which is a solid performance for a relatively low-budget film like this. It is scheduled to wrap up its theatrical run this coming Thursday, April 18th, and if you would like to see it, you can purchase tickets to a location in your area via this link to the website of distributor Fathom Events.
