The Christian athlete-turned-film exec will marry his girlfriend - a former Miss Universe - Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.
Tim Tebow got down on one knee at the family farm where he grew up near Jacksonville, FL and asked for her hand in marriage: she said yes. He later took to Instagram to announce the happy news and thank her.
"Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world. You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
The Instagram response from the 23 year old South African beauty queen was equally ebullient.
"Any dreams I’ve ever had, you’ve exceeded them all! I love you and I can’t wait to spend forever with you!"
Tebow, a 31 year old former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quaterback, is currently a professional baseball player in the New York Mets' farm system. He is also arguably the highest profile and most outspoken Christian athlete in America. As if that weren't enough, he's now trying his hand at Christian film.
Together with his older brother Robby, Tebow is executive producer of the sports drama Run the Race, which will debut in February. The film tells the fictional story of two brothers who use their athletic talents to get out of difficult life circumstances. It is directed by Chris Dowling, stars Tanner Stine and Evan Hofer and features Mario van Peebles and Francis Fisher in supporting roles.
Between the movie, pro baseball and his coming nuptials, Tim Tebow is likely to be a very busy man this year. May our heavenly Father continue to bless and use him.
