The documentary is set to air on the Trinity Broadcasting Network as part of that Christian channel's Holy Week programming schedule.

Best known as an award winning Christian singer/songwriter, Matthew West is taking a crack at retelling the Easter story as he hosts a production by the Washington, DC-based Museum of the Bible, where the documentary was shot. According to the program overview on TBN, which will air The History of Easter, it "takes viewers through the significant moments of Easter morning."

No stranger to being in front of the camera, West has done some acting in the past, including in the 2011 movie The Heart of Christmas, which features Christian actresses Candace Cameron Bure and Erin Bethea. Of course, he won't be acting in this one, but rather helping convey the flow of events on that miraculous day in Jerusalem all those years ago when Christ rose from the grave, conquering sin and death.

West, who is a Gospel Music Association Dove-Award winner, will also do what he does best: perform "some of his favorite songs celebrating the joy of Easter," according to TBN. The program airs tomorrow, April 1st, at 8:00 PM EDT/7:00 PM CDT and this link will take you to the trailer to get a feel for what to expect.

An hour later, TBN will follow with Because He Lives: An Easter Celebration. Put on by the aforementioned GMA, this musical event will feature performances from Christian artists such as Amy Grant, Nicole C. Mullen, Natalie Grant, Zach Williams and Cece Winans. Sounds to us like a night worth spending with TBN.
