Best known for his role on the military drama The Unit and as current pitchman in Allstate insurance commercials, Dennis Haysbert is now hosting a six-part documentary about Christianity on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. The series is called Inexplicable: How Christianity Spread to the Ends of the Earth and it debuts tonight.

The program is part of a broader TBN effort entitled The State of the Faith that will explore Christianity's past, present and future. Haysbert's show kicks off with an examination of the advent of the Faith in the Holy Land. The next five installments will follow weekly, tracking its movement around the globe.

In a statement on the channel's website, Haysbert expresses "delight" about his role as host, citing this as "one of the world's most important stories."

"Christianity has made an astounding impact throughout every continent, and in Inexplicable, we are taking a deep look at how that all happened."

The first episode airs tonight on TBN at 8:00 EST/7:00 CST and you can get details and future scheduling information via this link to TBN's website. In the meantime, the trailer below will give you a taste of what to expect from The State of the Faith project.
