A Solid Weekend for "Unplanned"

Despite serious obstacles, the pro-life Christian film finishes in the Top-25 at the box office.

Unplanned earned $137,000 and came in 22nd place over the weekend, according to preliminary numbers from Box Office Mojo. Now entering its fifth week in release, it suffered a 70% drop in its theater count from the previous weekend and was no doubt hit by the wake of the record-setting superhero movie Avengers: Endgame, as mentioned here.

This faith-based film has brought in total domestic revenue of $17.7 million thus far, nearly tripling its $6 million production budget. That is an impressive enough achievement in its own right, but it is made all the more impressive when you consider the repeated efforts of suppression of the film and its pro-life message from pro-abortion forces and their allies, which we detailed repeatedly, including in this article.

From the writer/director team of Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman, Unplanned is based on the memoir of Abby Johnson, a former director of an abortion clinic who became a right-to-life advocate. It stars Christian actresses Ashley Bratcher as Johnson and Robia Scott as her boss in the abortion business.
